Starting today I will....

...be more mindful of impermanence.  Perhaps be more accepting of impermanence.  Actually maybe starting yesterday I will do that.  That is when an interesting article from Yoga Journal on the Buddha's 5 remembrances came my way.  They resonated with me as I read them and was glad to have found them.

I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old.

I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape ill health.

I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death.

All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change. There is no way to escape being separated from them.

My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground upon which I stand.
this version of the Buddha's Five Remembrances, offered by Thich Nhat Hanh in The Plum Village Chanting Book (Parallax Press, 1991

This is a constant lesson for me.  I do a lot of clutching, both mentally and physically.  What a source of anxiety.  Reading this gave me a sense of peace.  A little light bulb moment that I don't need to strangle everything with my grip, to let things flow.

Thank you for sharing this, CJ! As someone who has had some `flow“ issues as of late, (gulp!) I love this reminder, too.
Be well!
Namaste.
